Conference practices
Registration:
If you are an accepted session chair or accepted session participant, separate registration to the Why Gender conference is not necessary, you will be automatically added to the official list of conference participants. The Why Gender conference is also open, free of charge, to those of the public who wish to listen to the keynote speakers' presentations and individual sessions.
Withdrawal
If for any reason you are unable to participate in the conference, please let us know immediately, so we can adjust the session schedules.
Expenses:
Participants are responsible for their own travel costs and accommodation. Conference is free of charge (no conference fee).
Visa:
If you need to have a official letter of acceptance for applying visa, please contact professor Laura Stark: firstname.lastname@campus.jyu.fi
Meal and coffee:
There is a coffee and meal during the Friday (9.10) in restaurant Piato, which is situated in Agora-building. After the first day, we will gather for a reception in the Agora main hall at 5 pm where the rector of the University of Jyväskylä, Aino Sallinen, will greet us with a welcoming speech, and appetizers will be served. Please let us know if you plan on attending.
In the evening a voluntary dinner (25€, this sum will need to paid in cash euros when checking in to the conference on Friday morning) will be served in hotel Alba. Please let us know whether or not you are coming to the conference dinner.
BUFFET MENU:
-Shrimps marinated in coconut, herrings
-Raw pickled salmon in lime sauce
-Smoked whitefish and rucola sauce
-Roast beef and blue cheese mousse
-Chicken and asparagus salad
-Goat cheese and melon salad
-Green salad
-Roast turkey filet in buckthorn sauce
-Roast salmon in chives sauce
Lime-vanilla mousse, woodland berry sauce
Coffee / tea (other drinks can be purchased separately for an additional price)
Vegetarian alternative (you need to inform us in advance): Eggplant sauteed in herbs and mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce

On Saturday (10.10) you can have a meal and coffee in hotel Alba or in restaurant Wilhelmina, which are near the conference venue.
